Biography

Dan is Senior Vice President & General Counsel of The Skillman Corporation, an employee-owned company engaged in construction management throughout the Midwest region with offices in Indiana and Michigan focused on construction of K-12, higher education, municipal, healthcare, and recreational projects.  Dan provides the team guidance on corporate ERISA compliance and governance of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (“ESOP”), risk management, contract negotiations, and management of outside counsel.  Dan also assists the team on complex and alternative project financing and delivery methods, including public private partnerships, build-operate-transfer agreements, and projects with multiple stakeholders.

Prior to joining The Skillman Corporation, Dan was a member of Frost Brown Todd LLC’s Construction Law Practice Group. During his tenure at the law firm, he represented and provided legal counsel to prime contractors, specialty and trade contractors, sureties, design professionals, and owners, including: drafting, revising and negotiating construction agreements; preparing and enforcing mechanic’s liens, payment bond claims, and statutory liens in multiple states on behalf of prime contractors, specialty contractors, and architects; defending contractors, engineers and owners in design related disputes; and representing sureties on bid, payment and performance bond claims, including bid disputes, defense of payment claims, prosecution of payment bond claims, defense of owner/obligee claims, takeover agreements and enforcement of indemnity agreements.
