David Martin Buoncristiani
09/26/1946 – 06/22/2025
With great sadness, we announce the passing of David Martin Buoncristiani, a distinguished attorney, devoted husband and father, and warm and loyal friend to many. Proudly born into an Italian family in San Francisco, David graduated from St. Ignatius High School, University of San Francisco and UC Hastings College of the Law (now known as UC Law San Francisco). He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1972 and joined the prominent firm of Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges, earning a partnership. Many years later, after mergers and acquisitions among law firms, he landed at Hanson Bridgett LLC in San Francisco.
David’s specialty was construction law, and he was recognized as one of the best in the field internationally. He was continuously ranked by Chambers and Partners USA since 2003 and was recognized as one of the nation’s Super Lawyers as well as being listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America for over 10 years. David was one of the earliest Fellows of the American College of Construction Lawyers and a member of the Board of Governors. His record of success in negotiation, claims, litigation and arbitration in all areas of construction was enviable and widely recognized.
David’s true excellence was his personality – humility, humor, loyalty. Those close to him – friends and family – were richer for the experience of being in his presence, he will be sorely missed.
David is survived by his wife Carol and daughters Alyson and Lisa, whom he adored – and a new grandson, Parker David, whom he unfortunately was never able to meet in person. David is also survived by brother Martin and his East Coast family. David leaves behind many friends and colleagues who will never forget the pleasure of knowing “Bono”.
A celebration of Bono’s life at a date to be determined. Send email to carolbuoncristiani@gmail.com for details.
